Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg is the winner of the 2023 community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is introduced annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the lives of kids in our group.
Brian Houchins, a devoted elementary college teacher and community volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children's schooling and welfare. Over the past ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of countless kids in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins' initiatives embrace establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged college students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy expertise for at-risk youth, and main a successful community-driven campaign to improve native playgrounds, making certain protected and inclusive play spaces for all kids.
The ceremony for the award will be held on January 15,2024,on the Mechanicsburg Community Center. The event will characteristic speeches from native dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins' contributions, and the award presentation.
